Everyday Run State: Pro Edition

Habits, not heroics

We skipped last week’s newsletter, and honestly? It was lovely. No big update, no urgent insight - just a pause.

But this week? We’re back. And we’re kicking off a small challenge for August.

The theme: consistency over intensity.

🏗️ Repetition Wins, every time

In operations, most breakdowns don’t happen because someone didn’t try hard enough - they happen because the process didn’t support consistent action.

Cycle counts. PO reviews. Time entry approvals.
These things aren’t flashy. But when they run like clockwork, they prevent the fires everyone scrambles to put out later.

Big change doesn’t require big effort. It requires repeatable effort.

✅ My August Habit

In August, I’m focusing on building one new professional habit.

Not a dramatic overhaul. Just something that nudges my day in the right direction.

Originally, I thought it should be something big and impressive sounding - like reviewing dashboards every morning or doing daily outbound messages before 9am.

Great ideas in theory… until I skipped three days in a row and started resenting my own goal.

So I’ve scaled back.

Now, my habit is to start each workday by looking at my calendar and choosing my top three priorities within ten minutes.

That’s it. No fancy tool. Just 2 minutes of intention before I dive into tasks.

And I set a timer to keep it honest.

If I want to take it further and build out a plan for the day, I can. But the win is just setting the focus.

That tiny action is already making my workdays feel clearer and less reactive.

So, what habit are you testing in August?

If you’re stuck, start by asking: “What’s something I wish I did more consistently?” Then scale it back. And then scale it back again.

Let me know what you come up with - I’ll be cheering you on from my keyboard.
